Leading a New School
The Ongar Academy Trust are seeking an outstanding professional as our first Principal to start from 1st January 2015. The Ongar Academy will be a new secondary, 11-18, STEM school, opening in September 2015 (subject to DfE approval in September 2014).

The Academy will start with a four form entry in Year 7 and will grow to 850 students as an 11-18 School. The Trust seeks to appoint a natural and ambitious leader with the vision and skills to aim for 'Outstanding' at the Academy's first Ofsted.

The Ongar Academy will be established in the heart of our small but vibrant town. Ongar is well situated in beautiful Essex countryside, yet within easy access of London and the M11. Parents are supportive and willing to work in partnership with the Academy to release the potential from their children. As the successful candidate in this visionary school, you will have the unequivocal support of the governors and the Trust.

We are looking for an exceptional individual who:

  • is an inspirational leader, strategic thinker and creative problem-solver who can implement the strategic plans necessary to create a new school within our community
  • is an excellent communicator, with the ability to;

    - inspire a range of internal and external stakeholders to commit to the aims of the Academy
    - build excellent links between students, parents, governors and the wider community
    - nurture, challenge and empower students and staff alike
  • is an experienced senior leader with a proven track record in raising standards and enhancing the quality of teaching beyond expectations
  • is driven to secure the very best outcomes for all of our learners, our staff and our community
  • has the highest expectations for the learning, achievement and behaviour of all children
  • is committed to build an excellent school culture and ethos that affirms the importance of community in all aspects of the Academy's work.

Your challenge will be to:

  • lead the development of a new school and establish a learning culture with the highest standards
  • establish an ethos of excellence and endeavour in students, staff and community
  • develop opportunities for personalised excellence in learning, leadership and service.
