Catering Manager

Job Terms: Permanent, 27.5 hours per week,

Monday to Friday, Term Time Only plus 5 INSET days

Salary: SCP 6 Point 13-17 (£26,872 to £27,770 FTE).

Start Date: 2nd September

Are you a passionate and experienced Catering Manager looking for an exciting opportunity to make a difference in the education sector? Quilters Federated Schools, is seeking a talented individual to lead our team as a Catering Manager.

· This is a great opportunity to lead and manage a highly committed catering team in a vibrant and highly successful school with a distinct international ethos.

· The Catering Manager will lead and manage a team of 6-8 Catering Assistants across 2 dining halls. They also support the leadership team in catering for special event, celebrations and pupil cooking lessons.

· The job specification includes a leader who can plan, finance and supervise the preparation of an appropriate menu, which meets all required Government School Food Standard Compliance, manage the orders, stock and equipment, ensure all school financial regulations are met and maximise the catering operation in terms of turnover.

· The manager appointed will need to have good personnel management skills to be able to motivate, coordinate and develop a team of skilled personnel in a professional and approachable manner and liaise with the senior leadership and finance teams to further develop the provision for our school community.

· Maintaining the highest standards of hygiene, health and safety is a prerequisite of the position and is of the highest level of importance to the school.

· Quilters Federated Schools takes its responsibility for promoting healthy, balanced diets seriously in line with its Healthy Schools status.

Successful candidates should have:

· Previous experience of planning meals within nutritional and dietary guidelines and with catering for a range of allergies

· Proven experience as a Catering Manager or similar role, preferably within an educational setting.

Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices. Hold at a minimum Level 2 Food Safety, ideally Level 3
Cross Contamination and allergy training, plus COSHH training
Excellent culinary skills and creativity in menu planning.
Effective leadership and communication skills to manage a diverse team.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities.
· General understanding of the operation of a school, including budgeting and cost control principles.

· Knowledge of First Aid

Responsibilities:

· Develop and implement menus that meet the Government School Food Standard Compliance requirement of students, considering dietary restrictions and preferences.

· Manage the day-to-day operations of the school kitchen, including food preparation, cooking, serving, cleaning schedules, recording temperatures and allergy requirements

· Oversee the ordering and inventory management of food and supplies, ensuring cost-effectiveness and adherence to health and safety regulations.

· Lead a team of kitchen staff, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high standards of food quality and service.

· Collaborate with school staff, parents, and students to gather feedback and continuously improve the catering service.
