Enhanced Provision for the Hearing Impaired Vacancies
We have two roles on offer in our Enhanced Provision for Hearing Impaired Pupils.
Head of KS1 Hearing Impaired Unit (full time) MPS/UPS + TLR 2a + SEN2 ·
Specialised Teacher of the Deaf (full or part time) MPS/UPS + SEN2
Permanent Required January 2015 or sooner
Glebe Primary School has two vacancies, one for a highly motivated and excellent Teacher of the Deaf to become the Key Stage 1 Head of Unit and a second for a full or part time teacher of the deaf in our new Primary School for January 2015, or sooner. Our whole school ethos and provision for hearing impaired pupils means that we are a very inclusive school.
As our Head of Key Stage 1 Unit you will have an important role in driving forward school improvement and maximising the achievement of all hearing impaired pupils, whilst developing the understanding and knowledge of mainstream staff. You will lead the specialist teaching of the deaf and a team of experienced LSAs with BSL skills. Your role will also impact on the provision provided in mainstream classes, as the hearing impaired children join their peers for periods of the day.
The successful candidate will:
Have a vision for and strategic overview of provision for hearing impaired pupils at the school
Have an excellent knowledge of how hearing impaired children learn
Lead strategic action planning to support development of provision for UHI pupils
Observe and work alongside colleagues to provide focused professional development and to hold them to account for their performance
To complete annual reviews and revise statements to liaise with Educational Psychologists, Speech Therapists and Social Workers with reference to statements and other matters.
As a qualified teacher of the deaf you will be teaching children in our specialist provision and also support them in their mainstream classes when taught by their mainstream teachers.
