We are seeking a skilled Learning Support Assistant to support pupils who have a range of SEN needs for 15 hours per week, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. The hours or work are 08:40 - 15:15 including a 20 minute unpaid break and 1 hour 10 minutes unpaid lunch. The successful candidates role may include working on a 1 to 1 basis with SEN children as well as working with small groups of pupils within the classroom setting. You will need to have an ability to work flexibly and with enthusiasm. You will work in partnership with class teachers and the SENCO, to support learning in line with the National Curriculum, codes of practice, school policies and procedures.
The successful candidate should have the following:
· Experience of supporting children in a school setting
· Committed to a therapeutic, relational approach and experience of de-escalation strategies.
· Experience of supporting pupils with a range of needs e.g. Autism, ADHD, SEMH, Learning and speech and / or language difficulties
· Knowledge of successful strategies to engage pupils with specific and significant needs
· Is able to demonstrate patience, calmness and flexibility at all times
· A commitment to high achievement from pupils and themselves
· Excellent organisation and inter-personal skills
· Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils
· Encourage pupils to interact with others and engage in activities led by the teacher
· Establish constructive relationships with parents/carers
· Good knowledge of ICT
· Flexibility and a good sense of humour
· The ability to use their own initiative
· Willing to undertake training and support individual needs
· Support the class teacher where necessary in planning differentiated work for the pupil
· Create simple resources to support the pupil's work, as appropriate
· Attend INSET days and training as identified by the Head teacher
