Grade: Scale 10 / 52.14 weeks per year / Full Time: 37 hours per week

Job purpose
To co-ordinate, lead and manage an effective Human Resources (HR) department and oversee the payroll function of the Trust.
- Providing professional, competent, well-reasoned advice.
- Overseeing the implementation of HR strategies, policies ensuring they are consistently adopted and compliant.
- Using specialist advice and consultancy to deal with matters that arise to achieve a satisfactory outcome.
- Oversee the Payroll process, authorising payments to all staff and external agencies i.e. tax & pensions.
- To provide comprehensive assistance to the leadership team as required on all matters of staff issues, administration and management.
Roles and responsibilities
- Support the Trust's development and implementation of HR initiatives and systems by managing the personnel software for all school purposes including salaries and production of contracts of employment.
- Develop and continuously monitor HR policy and procedures, in liaison with Juniper HR Services (or other professional advisors) to drive performance and mitigate disputes, recommending changes where necessary, and providing guidance and support to managers and employees on implementation of relevant policies and procedures.
- Manage the end to end recruitment process across the Trust which involves preparing job descriptions alongside recruiting managers, job advertisements, candidate screening & selection and pre-employment checks.
- Manage and support the induction procedures for new starters in line with safer recruitment practices. Ensure probationary reviews are carried out in a timely and effective way.
- Oversee and support the Payroll/ Pension function. Ensuring the data input and output is correct and reconciled.
- Ensure staff personnel files and employment contracts and relevant DM Systems are properly maintained, secured and that data is handled in accordance with statutory provisions, GDPR policies and school policies.
- Where needed support line managers in performance management processes.
- Support the management of employee relations casework including dispute resolutions, disciplinaries, grievances, absence, retirement and redundancy.
- Provide first line advice on current and existing benefits for employees and managers.
- Participate in the implementation of specific projects, procedures and guidelines to help align the workforce with the strategic goals of the organisation.
- To collate key data relating to HR matters in preparation for Ofsted Inspections. This will include the consistently reviewing of the Trust's Single Central Record to ensure compliance with any statutory changes or developments required.
- To be responsible for the preparation and accurate submission of the Schools Workforce Census Return, ensuring that the institution is compliant with statutory guidelines.
- Provide training to relevant stakeholders in relation of HR & Personnel support and management.
Person Specification
The HR Manager will:
· CIPD Level 5 qualification or equivalent.
· Previous HR experience (HR experience within the Education sector, desirable but not essential).
· Knowledge of end to end Payroll Process (Desirable, but not essential)
· Knowledge of SAGE 50 (Desirable, but not essential)
· Knowledge of Safer Recruitment Training

· Show an awareness and respect for peoples' differences, and recognise how different characteristics and personal strengths build dynamic and great teams.

Welcome to The Sweyne Park School, we are a larger than average mixed, 11-18 comprehensive school. The School became an academy on 1st April 2013 and opened its Sixth Form in September 2014.
