We are seeking to appoint an experienced or aspiring school leader with an outstanding teaching record to be Deputy Headteacher at our small and friendly secondary school. This is an exciting opportunity to join a close team and make a tangible contribution to The Deanes' future success and growth.
As Deputy Headteacher, you will play a key role insupporting the Executive Headteacher and Head of School to shape and deliver the vision and strategic priorities of The Deanes with a particular focus on:
- Leading on Teaching and Learning, ensuring high standards of teaching practice across the school, promoting innovative pedagogy, and promoting an inclusive, aspirational learning environment.
- Taking the lead in curriculum development and implementing a broad, balanced, and engaging curriculum that meets the needs of all our pupils.
- Working closely with the Head of School you will lead on professional development across The Deanes, inspiring and supporting staff to reach their full potential, and progressing our culture of continuous improvement.
You will have a small teaching commitment, supporting colleagues by modelling best practice and contributing directly to the academic success and pastoral care of our pupils.
You will also work closely with colleagues in other SEEAT schools, sharing best practice and embracing your own professional development.
You might be an experienced Deputy Headteacher looking for a new challenge, or an Assistant Head looking to make the next step in your career. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of excellent classroom practice, coaching skills, and curriculum leadership; they will demonstrate a passion for teaching and learning, with the ability to inspire and engage staff and pupils alike, and have experience in leading successful school initiatives.

Information about the School
The Deanes is a small secondary school where each and every one of our students can feel happy, respected and known as an individual within our safe and accepting community. Our curriculum caters for individual strengths and needs, enabling every student to make outstanding progress and provide them with extensive opportunities for personal development.

Staff can take advantage of free gym membership and we are fortunate to have an onsite children’s nursery which may be able to accommodate your childcare needs.
In September 2021 the school joined the South East Essex Academy Trust, which comprises 7 local primary and secondary schools, who form a collaborative multi academy trust.
The Deanes is well situated in South East Essex, with good links to public transport. We are situated within ten minutes of Benfleet and Rayleigh Rail Stations, where a 45 minute train journey will take you into London. There is also ample car parking onsite.
