Pay Range: Local Government Scale 7

Actual Salary from: £10,157 - £11,270 (Points 19-24)

The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Colne Community School for an Assistant SENCo (non-teaching) to join our SEND Team.

Our school is a community in which we believe everyone, students and staff alike, should have the opportunity to be nourished and grow. Therefore, we are seeking to recruit a proactive and forward thinking member of staff to enrich the skills and experience already present in our SEND Team. We aim to foster an inclusive culture where everyone is able to learn from each other. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, confident and diligent.

We have a new teaching block consisting of 8 new classrooms and 4 specialist Design and Technology rooms fully equipped. A further large scale internal refurbishment took place over the 2022/23 academic year which has further improved our school environment for all.

  • This post is 14.5 hours per week, 38 weeks per year (term-time) plus 2 INSET days.

  • Should you be successful during the shortlisting process interviews will be held face to face at the school.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Be the first point of contact for both staff and parents of specified children.
  • With the SENDCo, co-ordinate additional support for students with SEN(D) including liaison with parents, teachers and other professionals.
  • Have a detailed understanding of the SEN(D) Code of Practice and articulate this to the school community.

  • Successful experience in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities
  • Knowledge of SEN Code of Practice and Green paper
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
