HIGHER LEVEL TEACHING ASSISTANT
Pay Range: Local Government Pay Scale 5
Actual Salary from: £22,064 - £23,208 (Points 9 - 12)

The Role
Are you passionate about helping children reach their full potential? Our school is seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic and proactive Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our team.
As a HLTA you will work closely with teachers to plan and deliver support to students both in and outside of the classroom. The ideal candidate will have a genuine interest in working with children, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team. Experience in a school setting is essential but this could be in a primary or secondary setting.

- This post is 37 hours per week, 40 weeks per year (term time plus non-pupil days and 1 week during school closure period).

Some of your key responsibilities will include:
- Working with teachers to plan and deliver learning to small groups and whole classes;
- Proactively supporting students with activities designed to enhance numeracy, literacy and social-emotional skills.
- providing cover if the class teacher is absent.
- Promoting positive behaviour, raising esteem and encouraging an aspirational culture;
- Working with SEN students to foster their development as independent learners.

About The Stanway School
The Stanway School is a heavily over-subscribed 11-16 comprehensive school with over 1,300 students currently on roll, the vast majority of whom live in Stanway and the surrounding villages to the west of Colchester. The school is a specialist school in Humanities and Maths & Computing. We have undertaken a huge rebuilding programme and the Creative Arts block, the latest phase of our expansion project, opened in September 2018. By 2021, all year groups will be full with 280 students following this expansion of the school buildings. This is an exciting time to join an already successful school that is looking to continually improve practice: staff are enthusiastic and many take part in voluntary research groups into key areas of school life; students are well-behaved and achieve results above expectation; the culture of the school is calm and purposeful.
In March 2012 The Stanway School converted to an academy and in September 2016 joined the newly formed Sigma Trust, a partnership of schools located in North East Essex covering both Colchester and Tendring.
