SEND Learning Support Assistants

Fixed term until 31st August 2025

Salary: Band A Point 1-6

(£11,615.11 - £!2,482.09 per annum)

27 hours 5 minutes per week

Monday - Friday 8:45am - 3:00pm (with a 50 minute unpaid lunch break)

37 weeks of the year - term time only

Start Date: 2nd September 2024

Arthur Bugler Primary School wishes to appoint three new SEND Learning Support Assistants who have experience, or an interest, in supporting children with special educational needs, such as autism. You will have a passion for working with pupils and assisting them on their journey. You will need to have an understanding of the subjects that you support the children in, be able to demonstrate a fair attitude and apply rules consistently. You will be resilient and have excellent de-escalation skills. The ideal candidates will be able to nurture supportive relationships and be able to demonstrate a practical, hands on approach to supporting teaching.

The candidates will preferably have:

· NVQ qualifications or equivalent.

· A good standard of English and Mathematics and basic computer skills.

· Experience or interest in supporting pupils with a range of needs e.g. Autism, ADHD, speech and / or language difficulties, cerebral palsy

· Experience of working with children with challenging behaviour

· Knowledge of successful strategies to engage pupils with specific and significant needs

· Experience of the EYFS and / or KS1 curriculum

· Flexible and adaptable with timetabling and the daily routines

· Excellent communication skills, and the ability to liaise with parents and relevant staff

· Experience in personal care

· Strong behaviour management skills

· Previous SEN experience preferred
