We have an exciting opportunity for a Careers Adviser to join our Careers Advice Zone at our thriving, inclusive Further Education College in Chelmsford. You will provide professional career guidance services, in person, by phone and email including personal guidance interviews and group delivery. Thorough knowledge of education, employment, training, the labour market and personal opportunities that are available for young people is essential to support learners so they can navigate their way through the maze of decisions regarding their future.

You will be educated to degree level or have significant relevant experience in Careers and hold a Level 6 qualification in Careers Advice and Guidance. Knowledge of the CDI Framework and Gatsby Benchmarks is essential. Newly qualified Careers Advisers will be considered although it would be preferable to have experience of working in, or providing an information, advice and guidance service within a post-16 setting together with experience of apprenticeships and supporting the UCAS through the provision of up-to-date advice and guidance to students and staff.

The successful candidate will possess the ability to engage with and inspire young people who may be vulnerable and disadvantaged or have SEND as well as their parents and carers. You will undertake administration duties to ensure that all delivery evidence is completed and compliant in line with the Matrix quality standards. Our Careers Advisers are expected to work flexibly and independently but will be supported as part of the wider team. There will be evening work at the College Showcase Events and other School and College Careers Fairs. Job share and flexible working hours may be considered.

Effective communication skills including written and verbal, together with the ability to relate to a wide range of people and organisations are also key. If you are passionate about supporting learners to achieve their full potential and want an exciting role in a highly supportive environment, then we would love to hear from you.

The College is committed to equality and diversity and to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. We expect all staff to share these commitments.
