About the team

The Journalism and Media department is accredited by both the NCTJ and UAL. Our current offer includes the level 5 one-year and fast track NCTJ Diploma (news or magazine pathways), in addition to the UAL Diploma/Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production and Technology. Students on this programme can choose to follow one of several pathways, including journalism, media, social media, creative writing and factual tv production. The team includes several industry professionals, some of whom work in the industry alongside their commitments to the college. We deliver units on news, magazines, documentaries, film-making, and interactive journalism, to name a few

About the role

As an enthusiastic and talented teacher, you will deliver courses across a range of our level 3 pathways. The UAL is a vocational programme, and students will mostly consist of 16-18-year-olds. We expect content to be delivered to the highest standards using a range of effective and appropriate teaching and learning initiatives that engage, motivate, and enable all learners of all abilities to make significant progress from their starting points. You will also be working to address individual learning needs, overcome barriers to learning and encourage autonomous learning.

What we are looking for

The successful candidate will have a wealth of knowledge and experience. You should have knowledge of one or more of the following skills; news writing, shooting and editing content as well as a good awareness of the Adobe Creative Suite. Skills, knowledge and/or experience in social media, marketing and/or news or magazine design is a bonus. Industry experience is preferable, but not essential. The successful applicant should be willing to undertake a full teaching qualification with the college whilst in the role if they do not have one already.
