A well-qualified and enthusiastic Physical Education teacher is sought with the ability to teach both core Physical Education and GCSE (AQA). To be successful, you should also be able to coach several team sports to a high level (in particular cricket, rugby and football) and be confident to lead on away fixtures and competitions. There are also opportunities for the involvement in the wider co-curricular life of this busy school where there is an expectation that teachers contribute fully. As the school is "all through", you may at times be needed to teach Years 1 - 6, however, the main focus will be upon students in the Senior School (KS3 & KS4).Candidates should also indicate any additional subjects that they are competent to teach and to which Key Stage.

This is an outstanding opportunity to join our busy and successful PE department. The role would suit an enthusiastic, hardworking and passionate individual who wishes to share their drive and motivation with energetic young people of all ages.

At present there are 6 full time PE teachers and a number of external coaches who assist in the running of extra-curricular clubs and matches. The department is responsible for the teaching of core PE across all ages and believe that all pupils, whatever their sporting prowess, get an opportunity to achieve in all the key elements of the subject. GCSE PE (AQA) is taught in KS4 and results over the years have been encouraging.

The successful candidate will have proven experience in a range of sports and will be expected to lead, and have a strong presence in core PE lessons, whilst also having a keen interest in expanding our extra-curricular provisions.

The school is home to The Seaglass, Thorpe Hall School's new £2.4m state-of-the-art sports and events centre representing another huge leap forward in the facilities and educational provision at Thorpe Hall School. The Seaglass houses basketball and netball courts, badminton courts, indoor cricket nets, dance studio and a cardio-vascular room and gymnasium. The School also has a large field providing football & rugby pitches, a grass athletics track, a small wooded area used for cross country and outdoor schools education and an all-weather cricket pitch for the summer months.
