The ideal candidate for this role will have previous experience in the areas of youth work, support work or with young people with additional needs or presenting with difficult and challenging behaviours.
The incoming CIC Project Mentor can expect to support the students to develop skills and engage socially with others ensuring learning, pastoral and behavioural targets are met. The successful candidate requires confidence, patience, and skill to successfully work with these children and make a positive impact on their lives.
We are looking for motivated professionals who will strive to always meet each young person's individual needs. We are an organisation with a heavy emphasis on utilising sports activities alongside proven methodologies to work with young people.
Main Duties, Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Facilitate and lead sessions using session plans
Create plans for sessions
Be sensitive to the welfare and care of the pupils emotional well-being
Develop pupils' regulation strategies
Use a range of strategies and resources to provide a purposeful session which develops positive attitudes, values and behaviour alongside offering learning opportunities.
Work proactively and effectively in collaboration and partnership with children/young people, parents/carers, staff and external agencies in the best interests of pupils
Any other duties required by the Project Lead
Effectively safeguard children, young people, colleagues and yourself

Safeguarding Responsibilities
The post holder must:
Have a sound working knowledge of Child Protection issues and the need for confidentiality and identify to the named Child Protection colleague in Reach Group Community Projects CIC's any concerns in respect of individual children.
Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to Child Protection, Health and Safety and Security, Confidentiality and Data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate named person.
Support the protocols and systems that are in place to address the needs of children with or any child in need as defined in the Children's Act
Ensure Safeguarding Procedures and the Common Assessment Framework are in place, are understood and are implemented within Reach Group Community Projects CIC's
Ensure Child Protection procedures and processes are followed throughout Reach Group Community Projects CIC's
Effective Deployment of Staff and Resources
Maintain and develop resources, co-ordinating their development and monitor their effectiveness in meeting the objectives of Reach Group Community Projects CIC's and SEND policies
Skills and Experience
Understanding and appreciation of working with vulnerable young people - Essential
Excellent written communication, timekeeping, reliability, and timely reporting - Essential
Hold a full UK driving licence - Essential
Experience with mentoring - Essential
Positive behaviour strategy knowledge and experience of helping children self-regulate emotions - Essential
Legal right to work in the UK - Essential
Hold a full enhanced DBS on the update service or be prepared to undertake a new disclosure - Essential
Hold a level 3 qualification in Youth Work or equivalent - Desirable
Creative Practitioner equipped to deal with pupils who may have disengaged from mainstream schooling - Desirable
