Sector: Education
Location: Chelmsford
Salary: Pro Bono
Start Date: April 2024
Are you interested in shaping education outcomes in Chelmsford? Are you interested in contributing to ensure high standards of achievement for children in school? Are you interested in helping develop an organisations' strategic direction, setting aims and objectives? If you answered yes to all 3 then we'd like to hear from you!
One of Essex's largest and most successful Multi-Academy Trusts, The Chelmsford Learning Partnership (CLP), seeks a Non-Executive Director to join our Trust Board to start as soon as is practicable.
The CLP is a successful and established Multi-Academy Trust with Academy schools located across Essex. Our Trust head offices are located in Chelmsford. The Trust was formerly known as The Boswells Academy Trust but changed name in 2017 to reflect the growth of the trust beyond one school. There are currently 8 schools across Essex in the CLP MAT.
Currently, schools in the CLP are: Barnes Farm Infant School, Barnes Farm Junior School, Perryfields Infant School, Roding Valley High School, The Beaulieu Park School, The Boswells School, The Tyrrells Primary School and Lakelands Primary School.
Our vision is a simple one. We believe that, as a collective of schools, we are stronger together and that by working in partnership we can provide an outstanding education for every child in our family of schools. Each school has its own ethos making it a unique place to learn for its pupils.
The CLP Trust works collaboratively with academies in the surrounding areas with the aim of sharing best practices and ideas through school-to-school activities. Through doing so the trust places emphasis on building relationships with the communities its academies serve. Throughout your Term of Office (4 years) you will be an active contributor to key board decisions and the future of the CLP.
The CLP want to continue to raise education standards and outcomes. We are looking to appoint a Non-Executive Director, with existing board-level experience, to join the Trust board. The ideal individuals will have a passion for education and provide the CLP Trust with the highest levels of governance. The successful candidates will have a variety of experiences holding executive leadership teams to account. Insights from a wide-range of backgrounds ensure that boards are able to make informed choices on decisions that impact the lives of children and staff so you do not need prior experience in education to be appointed to the role. Desirable experiences we are currently seeking include safeguarding, school performance, curriculum planning and delivery, assessment and improvement, staffing, admissions and engagement.
What's involved?
Board governance in education is a strategic, non-operational commitment which typically involves attending 4 full board meetings and a number of sub-committee meetings each year. This amounts to approximately between 4-6 hours per month between September and July.
What will you be responsible for?
Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos, strategic direction, and educational outcomes of the schools.
Holding executive leaders to account for the educational performance of the CLP and its pupils.
The effective and efficient performance management of staff.
Overseeing the financial performance of budgets, making sure its money is well spent.
We offer a comprehensive induction, training and support package and this is a great opportunity for professional development.
