We are seeking a Head Teacher who can continue to empower our high-performing team of educators and support staff. As our headteacher, you will ensure all processes, risk management and policies are effective to provide a disencumbered environment for staff to deliver outstanding education.

It's an exciting time to be our headteacher! Our school premises received a £3M investment in 2023, and received growth funding associated with moving from a 1.5 to 2-form entry in September 2024.

Situated in the heart of Chelmsford with good links to railand road networks, our staff and pupils have easy access to the local pool, theatres, museums, and many more facilities and events to elevate their learning experience.

Our main school building is steeped in history and has been well-maintained and upgraded to provide a modern and fit-for-purpose environment to work and learn: new windows, LED lighting, fire alarm system, high-speed internet, ICT room, newly refurbished EYFS wing and a wellbeing suite. The school also boasts excellent outdoor facilities, including an outdoor classroom, sensory garden, woodlands, an all-weather sports pitch, an outdoor gym and climbing equipment.

We have a significant proportion of children with special educational needs (SEN) and are excited to be launching a new alternative offer for SEN Support to better serve our school community.   • Community Engagement: Foster strong relationships with parents to enhance the school's reputation and engagement within the wider community.
  • Compliance: Ensure all processes, risk management and policies are effective to keep children safe and nurture a permissive environment for staff to deliver outstanding education.
  • Relationships: Build effective working relationships with families and staff, including handling difficult conversations with sensitivity and professionalism.
  • Strategy: Support staff & governors in delivering the school vision and strategy by setting achievable goals.
  • Finance: Contribute to effective financial management to improve outcomes for all pupils.

Person Specification

Essential Qualifications

  • QTS/NPQ.
  • NPQH, working towards NPQH or other relevant academic or professional qualification.
  • Continuing professional development including TPP.

Essential Experience

  • Experience across the primary age range
  • At least five years of successful classroom teaching
  • At least two years of experience working as a Headteacher or Deputy Headteacher
  • At least two years of line management experience
  • At least two years of managing budgets
  • At least two years of experience working with external education agencies

  • Manages time & resources effectively, prioritises and meets deadlines.
  • Maintains own levels of performance in challenging circumstances and encourages others to do the same.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Recent continuing professional development in financial management, HR, performance management, supporting SEN children in mainstream settings.

Desirable Experience

  • At least two years leading a setting with an Enhanced Provision
  • At least two years working in a maintained school
  • Experience of influencing external partners, stakeholders and customers successfully securing mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Experience of bringing together views, perspectives and diverse needs of stakeholders to gain a broader understanding of the issues surrounding policies and activities.

Desiable Personal Qualities

  • Creates regular opportunities for colleagues, pupils, parents and external agents to help improve the quality of education and changes organisational plans and processes accordingly.
  • Brings out people's strengths so they can do their best work.
  • Role-models continuous self-learning and development.
