Information about the School

Welcome to Chigwell Row Infant School

At Chigwell Row Infant School, we are a Caring Community of Respectful Role models and Successful School Learners. Through our caring, respectful, and successful atmosphere, we provide a safe, secure, stimulating & happy environment where everybody is respected & valued as an individual.

The school was judged "Good" by Ofsted in our Section 5 inspection in November 2023. Our semi-rural school provides strong outcomes for all pupils in an inclusive, caring, and engaging small school environment. Ofsted commented that “Pupils arrive at this school with a smile on their faces. They look forward to the day ahead of them. Everyone is welcomed and included. Pupils enjoy playing and learning together in the happy 'family' environment.”

Our pupils progress well personally through the wide range of opportunities and responsibilities we provide that develop their experiences, secure key skills, and knowledge, and encourage them to be well-rounded individuals. Pupils access a broad and engaging curriculum with an eagerness and enjoyment to learn and achieve. Our school has the capacity for approximately 90 pupils from ages 4 years to 7, who are taught by staff who are enthusiastic, energetic, and committed to their roles.

We believe that the mental well-being and happiness of the children is equally important to academic success this builds positive people who are confident to use their skills across a whole range of experiences - skills for life! Situated right opposite Hainault forest, we like to spend lots of time outdoors and believe that learning is best when children are exploring, investigating and problem-solving within a natural, local environment. We are an inclusive community where everyone is valued and each individual is celebrated.

We are part of The Epping Forest Schools Partnership Trust, a Multi-Academy Trust of fifteen Primary and one Special School all based in the Epping Forest District. Along with our SCITT (School-Centred Initial Teacher Training), School Improvement Team, Well-being Service, and Resourced Provisions based in three of our schools, we are a leading educational organisation in Epping Forest.

EFSPT was formed in 2018 from a consortium of schools that had worked together for over 20 years and are committed to collaborative working to ensure the best possible outcomes for our children and school communities. The schools maintain their identities but work in a highly collaborative manner supported by a small but very experienced Central Team.

Our Mission is to provide an exceptional education that is inclusive and challenging for all and which provides wider opportunities for the children within the EFSPT to flourish.

EFSPT is committed to Trauma Perceptive Practice; the Essex approach to understanding behaviour and supporting emotional well-being. Being trauma-perceptive means that through our values, policies, and practice, we are able to effectively support the children, families and communities in our Trust, creating spaces of belonging and safety that enable everyone to flourish, become resilient, and learn.

We are an Equal Opportunities employer and we are committed to safeguarding our schools' communities. The appointment will therefore be subject to satisfactory references and enhanced DBS checks. SCITT Wording for Essex school website school descriptions
