Year 13 Pastoral Manager & Whole School Safeguarding Administrator

Essex 2024 Scale 6, Point 13 - 17 (£25,602 - £27,327 pa actual)

37 hours per week, 41.4 weeks per year (term time plus Inset, plus 10 days during the holidays. You will be paid for a further 2 days for Parents Evenings, Open Evenings etc)

8 am - 4 pm Monday to Friday (one day 30 min early finish to be agreed with Line Manager)

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, committed individual to join our team offering support to thepupils in Year 13 and assist with whole school Safeguarding administration.

The successful candidate will also promote the ethos of the school, with regard to standards of behaviour, dress code, punctuality and attendance.

VISION AND PURPOSE:

  • To be a member of the Pastoral Team
  • To support identified students to help them overcome barriers to learning both within and outside the school
  • To help maximise Sixth Form achievement and progress
  • To assist with the wider provision for the Sixth Form
  • To promote positive behaviour from Sixth Form students

MAIN CORE DUTIES:

Pastoral Manager:

  • To be the initial point of contact for students with pastoral concerns in Year 13.
  • To develop supportive relationships with students, including, as appropriate, weekly one-to-one discussions for either support or advice and offering appropriate assistance in overcoming barriers to learning and social and emotional development.
  • To offer support and guidance to students in Year 13 who have emotional difficulties or problems with stress/workload management etc
  • To identify those students who need guidance and support and liaise with members of the Sixth Form Team to implement systems to ensure that those students make progress.
  • To assist in the gathering of information about students in Year 13 who are causes for concern.
  • To be involved in the cases of all students who are of pastoral concern and to organise, attend and record review meetings.
  • To work closely with agencies and school counsellors, making appropriate onward referrals.
  • To record safeguarding concerns on CPOMS.
  • To liaise with SENDCo regarding special needs support and examinations arrangements.
  • To maintain regular contact with the families/carers of their students as appropriate and encourage positive family involvement in the learning process (supporting students and their parents through any transition process, including school or college selection, and other relevant procedures.)
  • To support with the recording of individualised Action Plans (Individual Learning Plans) for students who have been identified as requiring targeted support.
  • To support students on Results Days in August and in the following period, including year 12 recruitment.
  • To be involved in activities and assist with the organisation of the transition process including the Year 11 into 12 Induction programme, Open Evenings and Course Selection Meetings
  • To support the Sixth Form Team to prepare the Sixth Form Prospectus (Course Outlines)
  • To support the Sixth Form Team in all aspects of application to Higher Education, student finance, talks by outside advisors, individual advice to students, completion of application forms, preparation of students for Oxbridge entrance etc.
  • To assist the Sixth Form Administrator to manage the systems of signing in and out of school
  • To be available in Hylands Sixth form Centre whenever possible at lunch and break time and assist with the supervision of the Sixth Form Common Rooms, IT Room and Study Rooms.
  • To liaise with students and Sixth Form Team over the organisation of Senior Awards, end of term assemblies, Yearbook and Prom.
  • To liaise with the Sixth Form Team in managing the 16-19 Bursary.
  • To promote the ethos of the school, e.g. with regard to standards of behaviour, dress code, punctuality and attendance.

Safeguarding Administration:

  • To take notes (typed) during weekly safeguarding meetings
  • Uploading incidents and reports on CPOMS from internal staff and external agencies
  • Filing as required and general administration to support the DSL
  • To be trained to level 3 safeguarding (will be provided)
