Head of Science Faculty
Salary Range: Main/Upper Pay Ranges plus TLR 1C (Pay Award Pending)
Required for start in January 2024
A vacancy for a Head of Faculty has arisen within our Science Faculty at The King Edmund School. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious and outstanding practitioner to join the existing team. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate a successful track record in raising attainment.
You will be an outstanding classroom practitioner with the ability to lead and inspire others around you. With the appetite and ability to drive change, you will work with the Science Leadership Team to further develop an inspirational department with a focus on high standards of teaching. Ultimately, you will help further outcomes for our students.
Science Faculty
The Science Faculty is made up of 15 teachers and a technician team of 4 delivering science to KS3, combined science and separate sciences to KS4 and separate sciences and BTEC Forensic science post-16. The team is led by the Assistant Head, Adam Roche and Acting Head of Faculty, Ellie Russell, supported by three Heads of Subject, two Lead Practitioners and the Co-ordinator of Learning Initiatives. The team is very experienced, and any new member of staff will have access to significant ongoing support in the team to ensure a successful transition to school.
KES is a school with strong leadership and management and one with a strong supportive staff community. The school day lends itself to a good work/life balance with the teaching day ending at 14:10. The school offers an extensive support programme, including mentor/buddy system, Initial Teacher Training support for Early Career Teachers (ECTs) or for those seeking Qualified Teacher Status (QTS / QTLS), a system of twilight training sessions, as well as excellent development opportunities.
