SEN Learning Support Assistant (plus Midday Assistant)

Job Description

The Headteacher of Thorpedene Primary School and Nursery and the CEO of Southend East Community Academy Trust are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and caring Learning Support Assistant, for a fixed term until 31st August 2025, to work within our team, with particular responsibility for children with SEN. The successful candidate will have experience of working with children who have SEN.

Successful candidates will:

Have the knowledge and skills to support a child's anxiety, behaviour, and academic needs.
Have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to relate well to children, parents, and other professionals.
Be determined to develop children's learning, encouraging them to achieve their best.
Be organised and efficient to set up systems to support learning and well-being.
Be an effective team-player.

The role also includes a 30-minute Midday Assistant duty each day.

Thorpedene is a very successful Primary School and a member of the SECAT Academy Trust. It is a large school educating and caring for approx. 500 children and 90 employees.

All appointments are subject to safer recruitment requirements to ensure the safeguarding of children and young people. All positions will involve appropriate checks and clearances.
