At USP College, we are looking for a passionate Teacher of Maths to deliver high quality, creative and engaging lessons while successfully supporting and inspiring our students. The successful candidate will be providing tuition exclusively to GCSE resit students and focusing on functional Skills. As part of our energetic, focused, and welcoming team, you will enthuse and motivate students to strive for success while maintaining a healthy, focused learning environment for all students within the college. As a prospective member of the Maths curriculum team at USP college, you should be a subject specialist who will inspire and motivate your students to exceed their aspirations. You will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced teachers, to observe and share best practice on a regular basis, developing pedagogy through reflection. You will be able to build positive relationships with young people and support them to achieve their long-term career goals. You will be able to use your expertise and emotional intelligence to unlock barriers to your students' progress and provide the tools, support, and challenge they need to go forwards. Duties & Responsibilities

  • Promote the College's strategy of Career-Focused Learning, prioritising the learner experience and fostering relationships with the community and local/regional employers.
  • Contribute to curriculum development discussions and adhere to College policies.
  • Plan lessons according to student needs and curriculum requirements.
  • Regularly assign and assess student work in accordance with College policies.
  • Monitor and report student progress through established procedures.
  • Collect and distribute resources among students as necessary.
  • Coordinate with colleagues regarding student group organisation.
  • Attend College events such as parents' consultation evenings and open days.
  • Prepare materials and participate in Student recruitment events, including interviewing.
  • Assist in the induction process for new students.
  • Provide cover for absent colleagues and fulfil contractual obligations.
  • Engage positively in the professional appraisal process.
  • Stay updated on subject and curriculum developments and report on attended courses.
  • Participate in recording student achievement in accordance with College policy.
  • Ensure students are aware of emergency procedures and safety measures.
  • Provide clear instructions and warnings as needed to maintain a conducive learning environment.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Deal with challenging situations or individuals professionally and in alignment with policies and legislation.
  • Manage and prioritise actions related to learner issues and concerns.
  • Offer guidance and advice within established procedures, policies, and legislation.
  • Always adhere to College values and behaviours.
  • Ensure that safeguarding principles, including PREVENT, are embedded into curriculum and staffing practices.
  • Fulfil supplementary duties as required, including evening or weekend responsibilities.
  • Participate in staff Continuing Professional Development (CPD) days for industry experience.
  • Engage in Student CPD days to support student development initiatives


Job Requirements:

  • Degree in the relevant subject or similar
  • Expertise in the chosen subject area with knowledge of additional enrichment activities.

  • Capability of taking responsibility for multi functions involving students, resourcing, and college events
  • Be able to relate well to staff and students and judge the balance of support and pressure required to maximise achievement through appropriate support, guidance, and policy usage.
  • An ability to keep up with developments in the curriculum areas and advise on the future direction of curriculum and its methods of delivery
  • Be a creative and lateral thinker to promote Campus growth and enhance current business features
  • Have the ability to resolve student conflict and deal with criticism.
