Forest Schools and Special Education Needs Learning Support Assistant required at Roach Vale Primary School
We wish to appoint a Learning Support Assistant who will support children with additional learning needs and run regular forest school sessions.
The Learning Support Assistant role is vital to the school and involves supporting children with a variety of needs. This role has two key elements. One element will involve delivering interventions and supporting children to meet One Plan targets. The second element involves being part of small team running our new Forest School and outdoor learning provision, so the ideal candidate will love learning outdoors in all weather.
The role is for term time only 31 ¼ hours per week, 5 days a week.
Working Hours:
· Morning: 8.30-12.00 = 3 ½ Hours
· Afternoon: 1.00-3.15 = 2 ¼ Hours
Salary: Scale 3 Point 5 (£12.85 per hour)
Start Date: TBA - Subject to successful pre-employment checks
Successful candidates should have:
· Experience of working with and caring for children
· Experience of working with children with special educational needs
· High expectations of students in terms of learning, achievement and behaviour
· Enthusiasm and dedication to developing innovative approaches to learning, teaching, mentoring and guidance
· Experience of Picture Exchange Communication System (PECs) and/or Makaton would be desirable but not essential.
· A commitment to promoting and fostering good relationships between children and with parents and colleagues
· Experience of outdoor learning. A Level 3 Forest School certification is desirable but training will be provided for the right candidate.
