SITE AND LETTINGS ASSISTANT

Pay Range: Local Government Scale 3

Actual Salary from: £10,720 - £10,889 per annum (Point 5-6)

Start Date: 1st January 2025

The Role

The Stanway School is looking to recruit a confident Site and Lettings Assistant to help support our site team with our Lettings portfolio. Our sports facilities are available to hire by external sports clubs and are currently undergoing refurbishments to improve the provision.

  • This post is 16 hours per week, 52 weeks per year (full-time).
  • The proposed working pattern will be 11:00am - 18:30pm on Thursdays and 08:30am - 18:00pm on Saturdays (including a 30-minute unpaid break each day).

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Security inc locking up after lettings in the evening (training will be provided)
  • General caretaking duties
  • General maintenance work
  • General porterage work
  • Health & Safety
  • Working as part of the site team providing a clean and safe environment for students and staff

We're looking for you if you have:

  • Self-motivation and initiative whilst also being able to work under instruction
  • Excellent timekeeping
  • Experience of caretaking and/or buildings maintenance and security
  • Ability to undertake DIY tasks
  • Good knowledge of security, heating plant and other building systems
  • Good understanding of health and safety

Information about the School

About The Stanway School The Stanway School is a heavily over-subscribed 11-16 comprehensive school with over 1,300 students currently on roll, the vast majority of whom live in Stanway and the surrounding villages to the west of Colchester. The school is a specialist school in Humanities and Maths & Computing. We have undertaken a huge rebuilding programme and the Creative Arts block, the latest phase of our expansion project, opened in September 2018. By 2021, all year groups will be full with 280 students following this expansion of the school buildings. This is an exciting time to join an already successful school that is looking to continually improve practice: staff are enthusiastic and many take part in voluntary research groups into key areas of school life; students are well-behaved and achieve results above expectation; the culture of the school is calm and purposeful. In March 2012 The Stanway School converted to an academy and in September 2016 joined the newly formed Sigma Trust, a partnership of schools located in North East Essex covering both Colchester and Tendring.
