Maternity Leave Fixed Term Contract for a Learning Support Assistant to support a learner with Down Syndrome in a mainstream setting. Term time plus 5 non-pupil days. 31.25 hours per week 8.30am - 3.00pm to provide lunchtime cover for the pupil you will be supporting. You will need to work alongside the Class Teacher, SENCo and family to provide effective social and academic support, personal development and guidance. You will be required to provide a personalised curriculum throughout the week.
You will need to be able to communicate and build good relationships with parents.
The ideal candidate will:
§ Have a good understanding of the primary curriculum EYFS curriculum
§ A firm understanding of the Safeguarding and Welfare Requirements of working in such a role
§ Be able to take direction from a range of stakeholders and be adaptable in your approach
§ A genuine passion for working with children with additional needs and the commitment that children are at the centre of everything you do
§ Excellent communication skills with children, their families and your colleagues
§ Experience in using visuals for communication, such as PECS
In line with recommended practice in the statutory guidance "Keeping Children Safe in Education", the school will conduct searches for information onshortlisted candidateswhich is publicly available on-line. The purpose is limited:
