Finance Assistant Apprentice
Salary: £6.40 per hour, increasing to £7.55 April 2025 (based on the National Minimum Wage for an apprentice in their first year)
Working hours: 37 hours per week Term time only plus inset days and 2 weeks school holiday working, 41 working weeks a year. Daily hours to be confirmed

Duties and Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Support the sourcing of all resources, equipment, stock, books and general supplies in line with academy requirements to achieve value for money.
- Assist with the processing of purchase orders, checking for accuracy and distributing to suppliers and budget holder, as required
- Assist with the processing of all invoices, checking to purchase orders and goods received notes and ensuring compliance with Financial Regulations
- Assist with the processing of all income, staff expenses and credit card transactions to the finance system
- Assist to ensure all returns are made timely and refunds or credit notes are received
- Assist the Finance Officer's with routine BACS payments
- Assist with a robust filing system is maintained for paper records, with invoices uploaded to finance system
- Checking and reconciling Statements received from suppliers to finance system
- Work closely with school Office Managers to ensure correct processes and procedures are followed in line with Financial Regulations and guidance provided by the Finance Officer
- Assist with the administration of school trips finances in liaison with school offices
- Assist with month end procedures such as journal postings as required
- Assist in the monthly review of outstanding POs, GRNs, invoices, aged debtors and creditors
- Assist in raising Sales invoices, as appropriate, and ensuring prompt payment, chasing as necessary
General
Participate in the performance and development review process, taking personal responsibility for identification of learning, development and training opportunities, in discussion with Line Manager
Comply with individual responsibilities, in accordance with the role, for health and safety in the workplace.
Ensure that all duties and services provided are in accordance with the Trust's Equality and Diversity Policy.
Technology - Good IT skills including the ability to use Microsoft packages e.g. excel, word and Powerpoint
Customer service - Commitment to first class customer service and an ability to behave calmly in a courteous and appropriate manner at all times
Working with People - The ability to converse at ease with other Trust Staff, suppliers, creditors etc
Personal Qualities Understand the need for confidentiality when dealing with sensitive information
Reliable and ability to work flexibly and cooperatively as part of the team under the direction of the office manager
Confident yet sensitive and discreet in dealing with visitors to include parents and students.
Ability to work with staff at all levels and have good communication skills
Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
Essential Qualifications
English and Maths at GCSE level A-C (4-9)
Functional skills equivalent
