Autism Anglia and Doucecroft School, based in Colchester, are seeking multiple Learning Support Assistants after some recent promotions. The Successful Learning Support Assistants will aim to inspire and encourage pupils to develop their knowledge and confidence across multiple educational disciplines, facilitating a supportive and safe environment for learning. This is an exciting opportunity that would be well suited to Learning support assistants who enjoy supporting students in both an individual and group setting.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a well-established charity. Autism Anglia and Doucecroft School provide ongoing specialist training including leadership, autism-specific, curriculum and therapeutic training opportunities, supervision, and continuing professional development and support. A thorough and structured induction is also on offer at the commencement of employment.

  • Salary:£20,348full time equivalent per annum (Term Time only, plus additional days for training)
  • Hours: Part-time hours, either 2 or 3 days per week

The role:

  • Provide direct support to our students in their learning environment in both a group and individual setting.
  • Taking an active role in a wide range of classroom and physical activities throughout the academic year; assisting and working closely with the Class Teacher and Teaching Assistant to contribute to lessons.
  • Gain excellent on-the-job training together with continued professional development, support, and supervision.
  • Assist with the preparation for lessons, contribute towards and carry out schemes of work and Individual Student Plans (ISP) and Care Plans under the direction of the class teacher.
  • Keeping an up-to-date knowledge of each student's stage of development regarding assessment, communication, ISPs, and management program
  • Supporting the class teacher in planning and preparing for educational visits and school journeys and accompanying students on visits.
  • Working with students at lunchtime and supervising break times.
  • To comply with and promote to others, the policies and procedures relating to the school, specifically those relating to child protection n, safeguarding, health and safety, security confidentiality, and data protection
  • Potentially driving responsibilties

Applications are welcome from Learning Support Assistants with the following:

  • NVQ Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning is highly desirable but not essential.
  • Maths and English GCSE Grade C or above
  • Relevant experience working with students with autism or learning disabilities in an educational setting is highly advantageous.
  • Driving license highly desirable
