We are looking to appoint a kind and nurturing Learning Support Assistant to work within our school. The hours are 31 hours per week/term time - hours could be negotiable for the right candidate. At our school our LSAs work in two teams (SEND Team and Class-Based Team); this is a role that will incorporate work across both of these teams. You will therefore need to be flexible and adaptable and be great at using your initiative. Class based days would involve working in a classroom offering learning support as directed by the Class Teacher; within the SEND Team you would be working alongside a small team led by our Senior SEND LSA and our SENCo to support a small group of children with more complex SEND needs which can include intimate care. Although you could be deployed across any of our classes, this academic year this position is mostly based in KS1. We would be particularly interested in candidates that hold Level 3 Diploma in Early Years.
The work of all LSAs can be far ranging and everyday tasks aside from supporting pupils directly with learning tasks will include admin, classroom displays and preparing resources. Supporting learning will include asking good questions of learners, breaking tasks down into smaller steps and helping pupils respond to feedback from the teacher. You will need to be able to form strong professional relationships and set high expectations for positive behaviour and attitudes.
St Teresa's is proud of our Catholic ethos which permeates all aspects of school life. Staff well-being is highly valued, and we often receive feedback to say how supportive and caring the whole school community is. Continuing professional development is very important - we believe our staff should be fulfilled in their vocation and our children should receive the best level of expertise, skill and care, therefore in our school you will find a genuine commitment to your professional development.
There is an opportunity to work extended hours on a temporary/casual basis in our Breakfast Club and after school wrap-around provision.
We are committed to safeguarding and the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Following safer recruitment procedures an appointment will be subject to satisfactory references, medical checks and enhanced DBS clearance.
Visits to the school are encouraged.
