SEND Learning Support Assistant

Job Description

Merrylands Primary School and Nursery has an exciting opportunity for an experienced SEND Learning Support Assistant to join our fantastic team as soon as possible.

The position is for 32.5 hours per week, 8:30am to 3:30pm with a 30 minute break, Monday to Friday. Term time only for 39 weeks a year (including 5 inset days)

Salary Scale 3 to Scale 4 (Range 5 to 8) dependant on qualifications and experience. Actual Salary £19,199 to £19,797 per annum (includes paid annual leave which must be taken during school closure periods).

We are looking to appoint an experienced SEND LSA to support our SEND pupils and to provide interventions. You will work in partnership with the SENCO, class teachers and members of the SEND team and must be able to work flexibly and with enthusiasm.

We are looking for a person who:

· has high expectations of the children and themselves with a passion for raising standards and attainment

· can think creatively to engage, enthuse and motivate children to learn

· is passionate about supporting all pupils, demonstrating empathy and understanding of different needs

· is confident and able to work with pupils with challenging needs, including social and emotional needs/behaviours

· has a good understanding of the EYFS and primary curriculum and skills to assist pupils in developing a good standard of attainment

· has a good understanding of how to support children with pastoral needs

· has a good understanding of different special educational needs

· is confident and able to support pupils with significant learning difficultiesin small groups and 1:1

· works well as part of a team and has a commitment to improving and developing their own practice.
