We have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Physical Provision to join our dedicated team of professionals.
We are looking for an individual with energy, and a passion for changing young lives throughsport and physical activity. The successful applicant will be someone whose personal values align to those of the Foundation and who will lead by example demonstrating high professional standards.
The successful candidate will drive the strategic vision of the organisation which is to promote physical activity and fitness as an invaluable tool in improvingemotional and mental wellbeing. You will also be responsible for planning the PE offer to ensure that provision takes account of all criteria forqualifications and developing the range of physical activity on offer across the Foundation.
The Head of Physical Provision will also undertake a hub teaching responsibility and the role of Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead.
DUTIES
• To actively promote physical activity to staff, students and families as a means of channeling overwhelming feelings
• To be a strong role model for physical activity and fitness
• To coordinate all aspects of the physical health needs of students - including but not limited to nutrition, personal care and sexual health- and monitor and evaluate the delivery of provision
• To plan, monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of provision
• To identify priorities for improvement and contribute to the Student Achievement Plan
• To support student progress conferences, feeding back on effectiveness and ensuring that adaptations to provision are agreed andrecorded within the whole Foundation provision maps
• To research and engage the services of additional practitioners who can enrich the approaches and meet the growing needs of students
• To research and explore other contexts, including local secondary schools, where opportunities for physical activity can be provided
• To research and explore the approaches to physical activity in other settings both local and further afield
• To ensure the foundation's approach towards physical activity and fitness is reflected in relevant policies, the curriculum and pastoralsupport
• To advise families on the benefits of physical activity and fitness and ensure where appropriate that resources are available in the familyhome to support consistency in approaches between home and school
• To support and strengthen the emotional wellbeing of students to encourage independence and self-discipline
• To fulfil all the duties of a SEN Teacher in line with the teaching commitment required by the role
PERSON SPECIFICATION
- Evidence of having influenced the quality of learning, in present establishment -Desirable
- Ability to work and plan as part of a team -Essential
- Ability to use a range of classroom management and teaching strategies to engage pupils and promote progress -Essential
- Skilled in the use of nurture and outdoor learning or able and committed to developing these skills in a short amount of time -Desirable
- Understanding and knowledge of approaches to a variety of positive behaviour management -Essential
- Ability to differentiate teaching to support all pupils and their SEN -Essential
- Skills to work with pupils in escalation, and strategies help aid de-escalation -Essential
RELEVANT EXPERIENCE
- Recent experience of teaching/supporting the learning of children in the secondary phase -Essential
- Experience of working with pupils who have social, emotional and mental health difficulties -Essential
- Experience of curriculum planning, promoting and monitoring a vocational curriculum which meets the needs of our students - Desirable
- Experience of topic-based planning and assessment -Essential
- Experience of nurture provision and outdoor learning -Desirable
- Experience of planning and monitoring personal learning package -Desirable
- Experience of implementing intervention strategies to support pupils -Essential
- Experience of liaison and co-operation with other professional agencies -Desirable
- Commitment and empathy to support young people with special needs

EDUCATION AND TRAINING
- Teaching qualification -Essential
- G.C.S.E Maths, English at Grade C -Essential
- Commitment to continue professional development, evidence of recent INSET -Essential
- Qualifications linked to working with children with SEN -Desirable

- Ability to work flexibly and co-operatively as a member of the school team -Essential

Established in 2020 and having achieved successful status as an Independent Special School for Social, Emotional, Mental Health and Autism Spectrum Disorder, and rated as 'Good' by Ofsted in 2023, Omnia Foundation offers a unique experience for students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), for 12–16-year-old boys.
