Full time 8.30am - 12.30pm, 1.00pm - 3.15pm to support two KS1 pupils in receipt of EHCP funding
Start date: As soon as possible
Queen Boudica Primary School is a thriving and successful two-form entry primary school situated on the north side of Colchester. We offer modern, well-resourced learning environments and our pupils are well mannered, dynamic and motivated to learn. You will be offered strong support from friendly colleagues and professional development opportunities to enable you to extend your existing skill set.
We are in receipt of funding for two pupils in Key Stage 1 with EHCPs who require an adult to work with them on a 1-1 basis, supporting the teaching team with delivery of an individualised curriculum both within and outside the classroom, focussed upon academic attainment alongside developing the pupils' emotional understanding. The pupils' needs are very different, but both pupils thrive on positive adult support and enjoy creative and practical activities. Developing a trusting relationship with key adults is vital to their success. The role involves 1-1 work with one pupil in Year 2 on Mondays and Tuesdays and the other pupil in Year 1 on Wednesday - Friday. Support during lunchtime will also be required. Experience of supporting pupils with ASD/ADHD would be desirable but is not essential.
Positive behaviour management skills, and experience of working with pupils with SEND are essential. The ability to work creatively to include practical activities as well as having experience of managing an individualised curriculum would be ideal. Support will be provided from our SENCO, Pastoral Team and the class teacher. Close liaison with home and attendance at termly reviews are essential, and effective working with other professionals in a 'team around' approach is also important.
As with all posts in our school, the successful candidate will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS check, in line with our commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
We reserve the right to close the advert early if an appropriate candidate applies.
Closing date: Sunday 23rd September midnight
Interviews: Week of 23rd September
