Salary: Scale 4 (Point 7 to 8) FTE £24,294 - £24,702

Actual: £16,887 to £17,170 (includes 5.7 weeks paid holiday)

Contract Type: Permanent

Hours: 8:45am to 3.15pm (including 30 minute lunch break) - Working hours; 6hrs a day - 30 hours a week.

Start Date:ASAP

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a (minimum) qualified BSL L1 practitioner to join our primary school as a Teaching Assistant within our Enhanced Provision for Deaf Children. The candidate will be willing to complete BSL L2 if not already achieved.

The ideal candidate will have a proven record of experience within classroom support and be a qualified signer.

They will be able to strike the right balance between meeting the communication and learning needs of deaf children and facilitating their independence to ensure a fulfilling school experience. The ability to motivate and challenge young children is essential.

A qualification in British Sign Language (BSL) Level 1 (minimum) is essential. The primary responsibilities and requirements for the role are detailed in the job description.

Our school is well maintained and boasts extensive grounds providing a large playing field, a Forest School area and two playgrounds. The outdoor pavilion provides shelter and is used as an outdoor classroom. We have seven main classrooms, a Nursery and a enhanced provision for the teaching of Hearing Impaired Children. The Nursery has places for 26 part-time pupils and they are involved in the social life of the school, helping them experience a very successful transition to our reception class in the mainstream school.The enhanced provision has 18 places and caters for pupils who are severe/profoundly deaf from across the whole of North East Essex.
