Minimum 7 hours per week, 8.25am-11.55am or 11.55am-3.25pm

38 weeks a year, term time only

Buttsbury Pre-school has been open since 1975 and is a purpose-built setting in a building, based within the Infant school site in Billericay. Due to our fantastic reputation, third 'outstanding' Ofsted report in a row (Nov 2019) and ongoing commitment to providing the very best childcare we have restructured to expand our business.

We are looking for an individual with excellent interpersonal skills enabling them to communicate effectively with the children, parents and colleagues. Strong organisational skills are essential as the successful candidate will be required to undertake planning, observations and assessments in line with the EYFS. A level 2 qualification in an early years subject or equivalent is desired for this role but please apply if you are planning to/already are undertaking early years training at this level or above.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

· To help prepare and fully set out the playroom before children arrive and tidy it up after children leave.

· Within the EYFS framework, supervise the children and protect them from dangerous or harmful situations by being responsible for health and safety checks.

· To follow local safeguarding procedures and to share any child protection concerns with relevant professionals.

· Create a stretching, stimulating and varied programme of activities responding to each child's individual developmental need and enhancing their general health and well-being.

· Carry out sessional duties as per the staff rota and cover lunch club duties when necessary.

· To act as a key person to a small group of children and ensure that learning outcomes through observation, planning and assessment are recorded and profiles updated.

· To produce a 2 year progress check report for all their key children before their 3rd birthday.

· To keep informative, accurate and up to date records, including records of progress, and ensure that any behavioural or developmental reports are kept and referred as required.

· To liaise with parents/carers about their child's needs, interests and progress while building an effective relationship with parents/carers to ensure each child's needs are recognised and met at pre-school and supported at home.

· To attend and actively participate at regular staff meetings and contribute to the overall planning and learning within the EYFS framework.

· To attend training courses as required and to take responsibility for your development.

· To keep completely confidential any information regarding the children, their families or other staff, which is acquired as part of the job.

· To be aware of and adhere to all the Pre-school's operational policies and procedures, e.g. health and safety, fire precautions, dropping off and collection of children, food safety, cleanliness of the setting etc.

Additional information: Under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, a Disclosure Barring Service check will be undertaken prior to appointment. Handover and induction training will be provided
