Fairhouse Primary School has an exciting opportunity for a Midday Assistant to join our fantastic team as soon as possible.

The hours will be 11:55am to 1:10pm Monday to Friday (6.25 hours per week) - term time only for 38 weeks per year.

Salary Scale 2, Point 3 (Range 3 - 4) Actual Salary £3,493 per annum. (Includes paid annual leave which must be taken in school closure periods).

Fairhouse Primary School is a two form primary located in Long Riding, Basildon. We are looking for a Midday Assistant to support with the smooth running of our lunch times. This position involves supporting pupils in eating lunch, keeping the dining area clean, safe and tidy and promoting eating. It also involves supporting pupils at lunch time on the playground to provide first aid, support in play supervision, keep pupils safe and manage any behaviour incidents to support pupils to have a happy and safe play time. You may be directed to do one or other of these focussed roles at different times.

We are looking for a person who:

  • can provide care for children during their lunch hour, encouraging consumption of food, supervising the dining hall and ensuring the dining hall is a clean and safe place to eat
  • has high expectations of the children and themselves
  • works well as part of a team and has a commitment to improving and developing their own practice
  • has a friendly nature and can show empathy to pupils
  • is confident in supporting pupil behaviour and incidents
  • enjoys spending time with children at play
