The Diocese of Chelmsford Vine Schools Trust are seeking a dedicated and dynamic Assistant Headteacher to join our team at St Leonard's Church of England Primary School, Southminster, starting January 2025.

St Leonard's Church of England Primary School is located approximately 3 miles from Burnham on Crouch and 10 miles southeast of Maldon. St Leonard's Church, situated in the centre of the village, is in close proximity to the school, fostering a strong relationship that enhances our community's spiritual foundation. At St Leonard's we all work together to recognise individual needs and support every child. We firmly believe that collective worship is an integral part of our community, allowing our children to develop spiritually, morally, and socially.

Our Ofsted inspection in April 2024, resulted in an overall "Good" rating, reflecting our ongoing commitment to high-quality education and the well-being of our children.

As the Assistant Headteacher in Key Stage 2, you will work closely with the Headteacher and the Senior Leadership Team to drive school improvement and make a lasting impact on our pupils' educational journey. You will play a vital role in formulating the school's aims and objectives, implementing a rich and varied curriculum, and ensuring the delivery of outstanding teaching and learning across the school. By taking the role as DDSL, you will also be responsible for continuing the excellent work already in place to safeguard the children at our school.

What we're looking for:

· Someone with a deep understanding and respect for the Christian ethos of our school.

· A passionate and experienced educator, dedicated to providing the highest standards of education and preserving the good reputation of our school within the community.

· A motivated and innovative educational leader who possesses strong curriculum knowledge and a proven track record of outstanding teaching practice.

· Experience in a leadership role within a primary school setting.

· Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate both staff and children, empowering all to flourish.

· A commitment to inclusivity and the holistic development of every child, combined with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

· A sound understanding of the safeguarding and welfare needs of children and preferably experience in the role of Designated Safeguarding Lead.

Key Responsibilities will include:

· Lead as a Phase Leader, collaborating with staff to ensure every child thrives.

· Oversee the development and implementation of school improvement plans in partnership with the Headteacher and the School's Governance Board.

· Model excellent teaching practices, mentor and support staff, including ECTs, and promote a culture of continuous professional development.

· Designated Deputy Safeguarding Lead, taking a proactive role in safeguarding, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for all children.

Southminster C of E Primary School is located about 3 miles from Burnham on Crouch and 10 miles southeast from Maldon. St Leonard's Church is located in the centre of the town and lies close to Southminster C of E Primary School. The school enjoys a close relationship with the church. At Southminster School we all work together to recognise individual needs and support every child. We firmly believe that collective worship is an integral part of our community and through it, our children develop spiritually, morally and socially. Our class teachers are supported by an experienced team of Teaching Assistants who also take on additional responsibilities within the school together with an efficient and dedicated team of administrative staff.
