As Deputy Headteacher you will:

  • Lead the development and implementation of an innovative, inclusive curriculum tailored to the diverse needs of pupils with SEND.
  • Champion best practices in special education, ensuring our teaching and learning is at the forefront of the field.
  • Drive high-quality, differentiated teaching practices, empowering every pupil to reach their full potential.
  • Implement robust assessment and progress monitoring systems to track and celebrate pupil achievement.
  • Provide strategic staff development and support, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Cultivate an inclusive and positive school environment, prioritising safeguarding and promoting positive behaviour.
  • Effectively manage resources and implement school policies.

Fern House School is a special school for children with social, emotional, mental health needs and / or social communication needs (Autism).

At Fern House School we embrace individuality and recognise each child as unique. We provide our learners with opportunities to grow and develop in a safe and nurturing environment.

Our success is based on our ability to build strong relationships with our children. We understand that for many of our children, being at school has been a challenge and together, we break down barriers and reignite their passion for learning. Our curriculum has been designed to be inclusive, ambitious and engaging.

Fern House School opened in November 2017. We are proud to be part of the Connect Education Trust which includes Bowes Primary School, Chesterfield Primary School, Carterhatch Junior School, Delta Primary School, Grange Park Primary School and Hazelbury Primary School.

At the heart of human development is relationship. We pride ourselves on offering relational learning through an inclusive, attachment-aware, trauma-informed approach. Our specialist team of staff work hard to nurture each individual to gain a deeper understanding of their needs.
