Part time Site Manager
10 hours per week or equivalent
Holidays to be taken during school closure periods
Scale 5, point range 9 to 12
Actual salary between £6192 and £6560
The governors are seeking to appoint a part time dedicated and proactive Site Manager to maintain, clean and secure our small school environment.
The successful candidate will oversee the maintenance and safety of our school building and grounds, deal with minor repairs ad supervise external contractors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the upkeep and security of school premises, including routine maintenance, minor repairs, and cleaning.
- Supervise cleaning staff and ensure standards are met
- Oversee external contractors and monitor their work for quality and safety.
- Promote health and safety standards, conducting regular checks on security systems, fire equipment, and school safety hazards.
- Advise on site development and make recommendations for improvements.
Key Skills & Experience Required:
- A flexible approach to their work
- Ability to work independently
- Relevant trade qualification or experience
- Previous experience in facilities management or working with contractors.
- Ability to perform routine maintenance and repairs such as decorating, carpentry, plumbing etc
- Strong organisational skills, able to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Competence in using standard computer packages when required
This post does include manual handling, occasional work at height, and work during inclement weather, therefore applicants must ensure they are physically fit enough to perform these duties.

Dr Walker’s Church of England Primary School is a small village Voluntary Controlled community school, in the heart of Fyfield, Ongar. We might be small, but have a lot to offer!
We are a creative school, where pupils are supported to become the best they can be. Pupils access the curriculum through additional fun activities such as dressing up days, hatching ducks, circus workshops, visiting zoo, residentials, initiatives, etc. and where appropriate participation in sporting events with local schools. • The building of two new classrooms (with aircon)
• new playground multi-sports markings
• multi-sports goalposts
• an adventure trail
• classrooms have been re-decorated
• new access to KS2 classrooms
• EYFS has had a make-over (inside and out!) and
• new fencing to secure the school’s main entrance.
