Position: Head of Governance - Part Time, Permanent
Pay Range: Scale 9 (amount points etc)
Position Start Date: Immediate - subject to checks
Contract Type: Part time, 20 hours per week
Actual salary: £17,875.95
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivated Head of Governance. Our Trust seeks an individual who has extensive experience of school governance, is a strong communicator, has an eye for detail, possesses strong organisational skills, and is assertive and confident. If that describes you, and you would like to work for a progressive and growing Trust, then this could be the job for you.
The successful candidate will need to:
- Have extensive experience of school governance
- Lead and line manage a team of Governance Professionals and advise on local academy governance matters
- To attend Local Governing Committee meetings as appropriate in an advisory capacity
- Have good listening, oral and literacy skills.
- Organisational skills and works to deadlines
- be able to maintain confidentiality and remain impartial
- have a flexible approach to working hours and be available to be contacted at mutually agreed times
- be able to work remotely (eg via Google Meet) or attend in-person meetings if required
- be sympathetic to the needs of others
- have an openness to learning and change
- have a positive attitude to personal development and training
- have good interpersonal skills

Welcome to The Epping Forest Schools Partnership Trust, a Multi-Academy Trust of fifteen Primary and one Special School all based in the Epping Forest District. Along with our SCITT (School-Centred Initial Teacher Training), School Improvement Team, Wellbeing Service, and Resourced Provisions based in three of our schools, we are a leading educational organisation in Epping Forest.
EFSPT was formed in 2018 from a consortium of schools that had worked together for over 20 years, and are committed to collaborative working to ensure the best possible outcomes for our children and school communities. The schools maintain their identities but work in a highly collaborative manner supported by a small but very experienced Central Team.

EFSPT has a robust Governance Structure in place. In addition to the Board of Trustees and their associated committees, each Academy has its own Local Governing Committee supported by a Governance Professional. An annual cycle of meetings has been established and the responsibilities of each committee is detailed in the Trust Scheme of Delegation and the committee's Terms of Reference. EFSPT recognises the importance of strong Governance and our Trustees / Governors understand their roles in maintaining high standards throughout the Trust.
