Food Technology Technician

Essex Scale 3 Point 5-6 - £12,060.00 - £12,251.19 per annum
Additional £343.46 per annum Outer Fringe Allowance

21 hours per week
Wednesday - Friday 8:00am - 3:30pm (with a 30 minute unpaid break)
39 weeks per years - term time plus inset days

As a Food Technology Technician, you will play a crucial role in enhancing our students' learning by providing technical advice and support in the practical aspects of the curriculum. Your responsibilities will include preparing, maintaining, and organising equipment and materials, ensuring a safe and engaging learning environment for our students.

Key Responsibilities:
Curriculum Support:

  • Prepare, assemble, and set up equipment for practical classes and assessments.
  • Ensure all equipment and materials are safely collected, cared for, and stored.
  • Maintain and repair equipment, ensuring everything is in top condition.
  • Manage the safe disposal and storage of equipment.
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness and security of specialist areas.
  • Keep track of supplies and safety wear, ensuring students are well-equipped.
  • Compile orders for equipment and resources, liaising with the Finance Team for best value.

Pupil Support:

  • Demonstrate the correct and safe use of equipment to students as directed by the teacher.
  • Provide feedback to teachers on students' practical work.
  • Offer continuous support and advice on safety during practical sessions.
  • Assist with the administration and invigilation of tests and coursework.
  • Report any potentially dangerous or unacceptable behaviour to the responsible teacher.
