OPPORTUNITIES FOR GOVERNORSHIP
Are you interested in shaping education outcomes in your local community of Colchester? Are you interested in contributing to ensure the highest standards of achievement for children in school? Are you interested in helping develop an organisations' strategic direction? If you answered yes to all 3 then we'd like to hear from you!
Hamilton Primary School was originally built in 1914. We are a thriving two-form-entry primary school serving the needs of 420 pupils and their families. We believe very strongly in helping children to achieve their potential and preparing children for life in the 21st century.
Our vision is for a school that provides a quality education in a caring, creative environment conducive to learning. This motivates each child in a positive way and helps them to find interest, satisfaction and a sense of achievement in their school work and a sense of wonder in the world around them.
The school is seeking to recruit two new community Governors who can provide the school with strategic support and guidance ensuring high standards of achievement and progress with particular skills and knowledge within education.
What's involved?
Board governance in education is a strategic, non-operational commitment which typically involves attending 6 board meetings and some sub level meetings each year. This amounts to approximately between 2-4 hours per month.
We are looking to appoint two governors that will join us from Wednesday 2nd of July.
Our meetings for the next academic year will take place on Wednesdays, from 6pm.
What will you be responsible for?
Setting the school's vision, ethos and strategic direction;
Holding the Headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils; and
Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.
We offer a comprehensive induction, training and support package and this is a great opportunity for professional development at board level.
All appointments are subject to safer recruitment requirements to ensure the safeguarding of children and young people. All positions will involve appropriate checks and clearances including:
- An enhanced DBS Check
- 2 professional references
If you are interested and wish to come and see the school, or to have an initial conversation with the headteacher, Nick Hutchings, please contact us at admin@hamilton.essex.sch.uk or on 01206 572362.
