Monday - Friday 8:35am - 3:20pm (30 min unpaid break)

A new opportunity has arisen, for a Learning Support Assistant to join our successful team supporting students in the classroom. Standford-Le-Hope Primary School is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, caring, committed and flexible Learning Support Assistant, to support student learning and educational outcomes. The successful candidate will have a good understanding of child development and learning and will be willing to support children with both their physical and academic needs

Standford-Le-Hope Primary School is a popular two-form entry Primary School, that recently got a Good Ofsted in November 22. The school is passionate about equality, diversity, tolerance and respect for all, and students carry out age-related activities in their classrooms today and continue to learn about these important messages and life skills. Pupils look after each other at Stanford-Le-Hope Primary School. They live the school's cooperative values in everything they do. Older pupils support younger pupils as 'peer mentors' and 'reading buddies'.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate patience and show a commitment to supporting learners to improve educational outcomes. This role would be suited to someone enthusiastic, personable, empathetic and able to communicate effectively, whilst maintaining a calm and professional manner, under pressure. You will need to understand the subjects that you support the children in, be able to demonstrate a fair attitude and apply rules consistently as well and be confident in adjusting learning programs to meet the child's needs.

There may also be a need to support with personal care and diabetic care. The ideal candidate will be able to nurture supportive relationships and be able to demonstrate a practical, hands-on approach to supporting teaching. Previous experience would be an advantage but is not essential. This position will involve:

Supporting pupils, to ensure they are engaged in learning activities


Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all students within the classroom
Support children in break-out spaces for interventions 
Act as a role model, setting high expectations of conduct and promoting positive pupil behaviour, to create a safe and inclusive learning environment
Providing feedback to the classroom teacher on the pupil's progress against lesson plans, the conduct of the lesson and keeping pupil-related records
Dealing with any immediate problems or emergencies according to the school's policies and procedures about health & safety, welfare and wellbeing and safeguarding
Provide additional support to the teachers in the classrooms,
To establish positive relationships with the pupils in lessons being covered

The successful candidate will have:

A passion for working with pupils and assisting them on their journey
The ability to support pupils with learning, emotional and behavioural difficulties
Excellent written skills with the ability to multi-task
Excellent communication skills, with a positive and helpful attitude
The ability to follow safeguarding procedures and prioritise students' welfare
GCSE or A Level Maths and English
Excellent de-escalation skills and will be resilient, hardworking
