January 2024 Start

We are looking for a passionate Teacher of English to join our dynamic and supportive team. Our department has a wealth of experience in teaching English Language and Literature to KS3 and KS4 students.

As a department, we follow the AQA exam board for both English Language and Literature, specialising in these subjects at KS3 and KS4. We have a dedicated corridor with seven classrooms, equipped with View Sonic boards and three suites of laptops/chrome books available for student use. Our curriculum is broad and balanced and we use a mix of modern, literary heritage, and brand-new texts, ensuring that our students have access to the most current and engaging resources, which challenges them to develop not only their literacy and oracy skills, but their thinking, analytical and problem solving approaches too. We have an online shared area for teachers to use for their planning, where resources and lessons are regularly shared and use Google Classroom to communicate with students, set homework, and provide revision materials.

At Maltings Academy, we believe that learning goes beyond the classroom, which is why we offer a range of exciting extracurricular experiences. Our students have the opportunity to visit the world-renowned Globe theatre, as well as other theatre experiences, meet authors, and work with in-house theatre companies who deliver workshops that support our teaching.

Maltings is a 11-16 academy based in Witham, Essex. Situated between the cities of Chelmsford and Colchester, the academy has 900 students on roll and benefits from a purpose-built building that was constructed in 2011. There are excellent transport links to London which enables our staff and young people to take full advantage of the wealth of opportunities that London provides. Free car parking facilities are available on site.

We welcome applications from middle leaders with a strong track record leading a department, as well as those who have other leadership experience or experienced teachers ready for their next challenge.

Visits to the academy are encouraged. For an informal discussion about the post please contact Julie Joiner, PA to Head of School jjoiner@maltingsacademy.org

We reserve the right to close this vacancy early should we receive an overwhelming response. All candidates are advised to refer to the job description and person specification before making an application.

In line with our safeguarding practices we are unable to accept CV's. Apply today.

Academies Enterprise Trust and all of our academies are committed to ensuring the highest levels of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our pupils, and we expect all our staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
