Head of Design Technology
TMS/UPS + TLR 2B Allowance
(£31,350.00 - £42,689.00 + £5,528.00 per annum)
FTE: 100%
Start date: January or April 2024
This is an exciting opportunity for a talented and enthusiastic Design Technology Teacher to lead the Design and Technology Department at Brentwood County High. The school has a strong ethos in well-being and creating a sense of belonging for all of our students, with a strong whole-school approach to pupils having a student voice and mental health awareness. We are seeking to appoint an outstanding and enthusiastic qualified teacher (holding QTS or equivalent and a relevant degree) to lead our talented and experienced Design Technology department.
The successful candidate will lead and teach Design and Technology. They will be creative, innovative, efficient, and committed to improving outcomes. The ideal candidate will have excellent subject knowledge and lead a highly motivated team of superbly collaborative teachers committed to a progressive and stimulating approach to teaching and learning, and to instilling a passion for these vital subjects in our students. The successful candidate will hold QTS.

Due to increasing student numbers, Brentwood County High School is on a journey of improvement and is seeking to appoint additional staff. Following our "Good" Ofsted rating in June 2022 and several years of excellent student outcomes, demand for places in Year 7 and Year 12 has been rising. In December 2023, we will be excited to open the final stage of our £27 million DFE heritage building project. This will provide new state-of-the-art learning environments - including new science, sporting, technology, and art facilities, whilst also retaining the character of the original school buildings that date back over a century.

BCHS is located in the heart of Brentwood, near the town centre, a short distance from the train station, which is 25 minutes from Liverpool Street Station. The school, which also includes a large sixth form campus and achievements at KS5 have been a key strength at BCHS. Parking is available on-site and there are good transport links by both rail and bus. BCHS is just over two miles from the M25.
Brentwood County High School is a member of the Osborne Co-operative Academy Trust. The Osborne Co-operative Academy Trust is a Multi-Academy Trust, with twelve member schools within Essex.
