Clerk to the Governing Board

Hours as & when. Flexibility required. Mainly evening and home working required; some early morning meetings possible.

Scale 7. £15.44 to £17.12 per hour (FTE salary: £29,777 to £33,024). Pay Award pending.

We are seeking to appoint a highly organised, pro-active, self-motivated individual with a professional mindset to provide full support to the Governing Board. Throughout the academic year, applicants must be able to attend approximately 10 Board meetings, plus any other sub-Committee meetings, ad-hoc meetings and events as may reasonably be required.

The successful candidate will:

  • possess very strong organisational, communication, literacy and IT skills
  • be able to work accurately and independently
  • to organise their own time whilst working to strict deadlines.
  • possess high levels of personal integrity and an ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.

They will ensure the smooth running of meetings - preparing meeting agendas and papers; circulating them in advance of meetings; taking accurate minutes; advising Chair / Vice Chair / Governors on administrative / legal considerations where appropriate.; and keeping Directors abreast of responsibilities and duties relating to operation as an Academy Trust, along with changes to the educational landscape (both actual and proposed). They will provide full administrative support to the Governing Board and will maintain and develop the Governor portal, using Sharepoint, to host and disseminate information, training materials, reference information, etc.
