Autism Anglia is a well-established charity providing direct provision for people within the Autistic Spectrum from pre-school to adults. Job Introduction:

The Assistant Headteacher will support the Headteacher to create a culture of constant improvement through inspirational leadership, being committed to the highest achievement for all areas of the school, to provide an outstanding education for all learners.

·Act as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), shaping the school's strategic direction and ensuring its effective operation.

·Contribute to, promote, and uphold the school's vision, aims, and objectives.

·Regularly meet with line-managed staff to gather insights and identify development priorities to feed into the SLT.

·To act as the designated teacher and be a central point of initial contact within the school., ensuring that looked-after children and previously looked-after children aren't placed at a disadvantage, and are given the support that they need to succeed both academically and emotionally in school.

·To act as specialist assessor and therefore are familiar with the entire contents of the JCQ Regulations, which are updated year-on-year

·To ensure they are qualified to Level 7 in assessment for access arrangements

·Oversee the strategic development and daily operation of the Willow provision

·Provide professional guidance to colleagues and work collaboratively with parents, staff, and external agencies.

·Provide subject specific teaching to the learners within the provision

·Specific Responsibilities

·To ensure a high-quality service is provided within the Willow provision to meet the educational and support needs of our learners.

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Undergraduate Degree
GCSE's at grade C/Level 4 or above in English, Maths and Science
Knowledge of curriculum and pedagogy
Knowledge of appropriate relational behaviour management techniques for children and young people with SEND, communication difficulties and challenging behaviour
Clean Driving Licence

Doucecroft School is a specialist co-educational school for children and young people with autism and additional complex needs, age 3 –19 years. Established in 1973, we are experienced and successful in meeting the needs of students with wide-ranging strengths and needs, providing a nurturing environment where students are able to thrive and grow in independence and self-esteem.

Occupational Therapy and Speech and Language Therapy are provided on-site by our experienced therapy team.

Doucecroft School is part of Autism Anglia, a regional charity working with children, adults and families affected by Autism.
