Job Description

Kelvedon St Mary's Primary Academy is seeking a committed and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant who can meet the requirements of the Teaching Assistant Standards. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with teachers and other professionals to support the learning needs of the pupils they work with, in line with the School vision and values, and Canonium Learning Trust's purpose and principles.

This role is based in our Autism Support Centre (ASC) where we offer an enhanced provision for pupils with high functioning autism. The ASC provides specialist support and guidance for the pupils to meet the individual targets on their EHCP. It also acts as a safe space if at times the primary school setting becomes overwhelming.

Within our ASC we have between 8 and 12 pupils on roll at any time. The Learning Support Assistants who work across the centre are led by a dedicated teacher and SENCo and directed to provide a tailored approach to the pupils they work with. The primary focus of the unit is to help pupils develop coping strategies that allow them to access mainstream education.

The appointed Learning Support Assistant will ideally have experience of supporting pupils with Autism and challenging behaviour.

This role is offered on a permanent basis. Working hours are Monday to Friday 9.00am-3.00pm, term-time only.

Actual salary is £15,371
